April Spotlight: “Enough With This” (Live Music Video & Single)

On April 12, I’m to release the “Point of View” live music video to world that I premiered in last week’s Gzine. I hope you enjoyed seeing it here first. It’s just one of many from this Gregory Douglass Live From The Chapel project, and I’m so excited to debut “Enough With This” for you this month. Once again, you get to see it here first before the rest of the world does. I love this song because it gathers together so many things I hold dear.

“Enough With This” is another one of those sacred songs, and it was the first opportunity I had on the album to compose and arrange parts for other players to help bring the sweeping instrumentation in my head to life. I wanted the recording to be lush and orchestral on this song, but nothing that would take away from the solemn and humbling nature of it. I thought viola, cello, and clarinet would be a stirring fit for the underlying syncopation of marimba and piano throughout – bittersweet, eloquent and evocative. And it’s always a privilege to include my mom Glory Douglass Reinstein on clarinet – her first musical love.

This was also one of my favorite songs to include Lisa Piccirillo’s incredible vocals on. She’s my musical spirit animal in so many ways. She has an uncanny way of matching every nuance of my vocals with ease, and her harmonies and powerfully emotional voice make these choruses all the more beautiful and memorable.

But first, here's the original recording from new album, My Hero, The Enemy:
